Sophia had a check up at her pediatrician's office today. At her initial visit to the pediatrician last Friday, Sophia weighed in at 7 lbs 8 oz. That was a full pound less than her birth weight! Her doctor was a little concerned and asked us to make sure that she eats at least every three hours and to wake her up from naps to eat if necessary. The doctor also asked us to supplement her breast milk with formula. Mitzi and I made sure to follow the doctor's instructions over the weekend and thankfully at today's appointment, Sophia's doctor was happy with her progress. We still need to make sure she eats every three hours, but we no longer have to supplement her diet with formula.
In addition to the weight concern, her doctor was also concerned with Sophia's jaundice. In order to combat her jaundice, her doctor recommended we put her in indirect sunlight over the weekend. Below of are a few shots of her "suntanning" this past weekend:
Thankfully, Sophia's doctor was also happy with her progress and her jaundice is nearly gone.
Mitzi, Sophia and I also thought it was time to get out of the house, so we took Sophia on her first outing...to Target.
As you can see from the photo, it looks like mommy has already started trying to fill Sophia's closet.

Sophia Has Arrived
On Tuesday September 21, 2010 we welcomed our little miracle into this world. Sophia Araceli Magos was born at 3:11 am and weighed in at 8 lbs, 8 oz and measured 21.5 inches long.
Sophia did not come easy for mommy and daddy. Mitzi was induced into labor around 9 am on Monday September 20 and after nearly 19 hours of labor, baby Sophia still didn't want to come. Although Mitzi and I preferred to have a natural birth, the decision was made to have a Caesarean Section. Thanks to God that all things went well and Sophia came out healthy and safe. Below are a few pictures right after birth.
Check the next few posts for some videos of Sophia.

Countdown to Baby...
So...I know I made it my New Year's Resolution to post on this blog a whole lot more than I have...and, I know that I haven't lived up to that...but, I promise, now that that our munchkin is nearly here, I promise to keep you posted his/her life and our new lives and parents.
Like the title suggests, we are definately in countdown mode. The wifey's due date was on September 10th, but as you can see (or read), still no kid yet. Well, if the wife does not deliver this kid by September 20th, its go time; induction of labor is the route we will go. Both of us would love for the our child to be born without the use of medication, but those are the doctor's orders. Below are a few pictures of the beautiful mommy to be:

This was supposed to be an easy photo shoot, but...
...Jaclyn and Jennifer showing some love for their cousin-to-be...
...there is the man responsible for all of this.
Well, I certainly hope that the next time I sign on I'll also be posting pictures of our newborn.
